Neetu Chandra goes vroom vroom!
Wednesday, 02 February 2011
Actress Neetu Chandra has always been quite sporty, and she proved it when she was spotted zooming on the streets of Lokhandwala on a racer bike.

Neetu, seen in films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and Apartment, was getting disturbed by the hustle bustle near her building and so she went down to request some peace. But she ended up meeting a group of bikers and hit it off with them, said a source close to the actress.

One of the bikers lent his bike and helmet to her, and Neetu just rode it like a professional, and remarked: 'Why should boys have all the fun?'

Aamir prefers Ranbir to Imran
Friday, 28 January 2011
Not even his favourite bhanja, Imran. Whether you like it or not, in the creative space, Aamir has no biases, and he surely cares a damn about being diplomatic. It was evident when zoOm caught up with the actor for an exclusive interview. When asked who is better actor – Ranbir on Imran, he promptly said, "I love Imran, but Ranbir is a better actor."

Ouch, did that hurt too much, Imran? C'mon, you can't sulk for too long with Mamu now. And remember...he'd also said that you're a lambi race ka ghoda. That's not too bad for a compliment, right?

Awards go to those who attend the ceremony: Ajay Devgn
Tuesday, 18 January 2011
Ajay Devgn has joined Aamir Khan in staying away from award ceremonies. Most functions just market themselves by wooing celebrities and awarding the nominees who agree to attend the events, says the actor.

"I don't attend award ceremonies. The facts with award ceremonies are that you are called saying, 'Please come for the awards, we are giving you the award'; when you don't go, they say they had to give it to someone else. They also have to market it; they also have to sell their awards. So it's a problem for them,"  said Ajay.

"They have to give awards to whoever attends the function. So they keep their options open," said the 41-year-old who won the National Award twice for Zakhm and The Legend of Bhagat Singh.

"It feels good when you receive an award. But there are small, small things that I have to keep in mind. If a couple of awards ceremonies are genuine and you attend them then you have to attend all the other award ceremonies. So it's better that I don't attend any of them," he said.

He feels something similar happens while selecting movies for the Oscars. The actor maintains that Indian films have the potential to grab Oscars, provided the right film is sent for it.

"We can make it to the Oscars, but there are lots of politics behind it also. There are many big films, small films but they are good films, which are not sent to the Oscars. But I don't understand why they cheat their own country.

" Devdas and Bhagat Singh.. were made in the same year. Whose probability of winning an Oscar is more, a film on a drunkard or a freedom fighter?...Over the years many small good films, some of them by first time directors, have been made, but no one sends those films for Oscars," Ajay said.

This year he has been nominated for all the three awards - Big Star Entertainment Award, Star Screen Awards and Apsara Awards - in the best actor category for the crime thriller Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, but didn't get any.

Ajay is nominated in the best actor category in the upcoming 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 to be held Jan 29.

After the wedding, the couple hosted a quiet dinner for close family and friends at Taj Lands End Hotel.

Nobody can make or break my career: Rani
Thursday, 06 January 2011
She maybe hurt following talk about the end of her career, but Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee says such predictions will not break her.

"I feel bad when people say that Rani Mukerjee is finished. My career is already made. Nobody can make or break my career," the actress says.

"It is my fans who decided to make me a star. The only thing that will break me is when the love of my audience won't be there with me and the fact that they don't want to see me in films," she adds.

The 32-year-old Bengali beauty says being an actor she has the "huge responsibility" to entertain the audience with her every film.

"As they (audience) love me so much the least I can do for them is to do a role that is drastically different from my previous film. I want my audience to see a new and different Rani all the time. In my last film (Dil Bole Haddipa) I was a Sardar boy and in No One Killed Jessica I am a journalist," she says.

Rani, who craves for exciting and different roles, says actors are beggars who wait for good scripts.

"Every year I want to come with two-three films. I hope I get offers for roles that are exciting enough like the one in No One Killed Jessica or the one that I am doing in Aamir's film," she says.

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, the No One killed Jessica is based on the murder case of model Jessica Lal who was shot dead in 1999 by Manu Sharma, son of a Haryana politician, in a Delhi night club.

The film, which releases on January 7, also features Vidya Balan as Jessica's sister Sabrina, who fought to get justice for her sister.

I am dying to win a Filmfare award: Katrina Kaif
Wednesday, 22 December 2010
She is undoubtedly Bollywood's reigning beauty but Katrina Kaif has still not won a Filmfare award and is "dying" to get her hands on the 'Black Lady'.

"I haven't won a Filmfare award till now and I am dying to win one. But I can never be a judge for myself whether I should get a Filmfare award as it for the audience to decide," said Katrina who was in town to announce the 56th Idea Filmfare awards.

The 26-year-old is also on the cover of Filmfare magazine's latest issue along with her Tees Maar Khan co-star Akshay Kumar.

The actress who is tipped to be in the race for a Filmfare trophy this year for her performance in the hit political drama Rajneeti, said that she is excited about the new wave of cinema in Bollywood.

"Look at the type of films being made nowadays. Its really commendable. Films like No One Killed Jessica is a classic example of this. I am amazed everyone is so excited about it including me," she said.

SRK confirms role in Bharadwaj's adaptation of Two States
Monday, 20 December 2010
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan confirmed Friday that he is teaming up with filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj for his screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's bestseller Two States.

'Yes, I am doing Vishal Bharadwaj's movie which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's Two States. The progress is confirmed, but reports have been stating that the deal has already been signed... but that is yet to take place,'  said Shah Rukh on the sidelines of Imagine TV's launch of his television show Zor Ka Jhatka.

The actor says talks on the project aren't recent.

'We (Vishal and I) have been in constant touch for the same since the past two years,' he said.

It should be an interesting movie that has India's most commercially viable actor and critically acclaimed director, who is popular for rustic projects like Omkara and Kaminey, working together.

Ajay and I don't agree on scripts easily: Kajol
Thursday, 16 December 2010
Kajol, who will be seen with husband Ajay Devgn on screen after a gap of two years in the animation film Toonpur Ka Superhero, says the two cannot team up often because they hardly ever like the same script.

"Ajay and I will always take years to be together on screen because we hardly ever agree on a script. We actually don't agree on most scripts," said Kajol.

"What he thinks as workable is something that I find not working for me at all. So it's very rare that we actually come across something that we both agree on and we both would like to work on," she added.

They tied the knot in 1999 after a few years of courtship and are known as one of the best couples in Bollywood.

They created reel magic with Hulchul, Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha, Ishq and Dil Kya Kare. Their last outing together was Ajay's directorial debut U Me Aur Hum (2008), which was critically appreciated for its theme and performances but was a box-office dud.

The actress says over the years she has become more comfortable working with Ajay, 41.

"As the years go by, you get more comfortable and get used to the way the other person works; otherwise the process remains the same. It just becomes more of a team."

Now once again they are set to create celluloid magic with the live action animation movie Toonpur Ka Superhero slated to hit the screens Dec 24. Directed by Kireet Khurana, the film has been produced by Krishika Lulla and Kumar Mangat Pathak.

The film shows Ajay and Kajol playing humans who enter the world of cartoons. This is Kajol's first animation film and she asserts it was not a cakewalk.

"It was very tough working on the film. We even had to re-shoot a few scenes. Dubbing and shooting was equally frustrating. You had to keep so many things in mind like timing and everything," she said.

"There were a few action sequences too where I had to do action in front of a green space, so I was smiling, scowling, laughing - all in the wrong places! However, our action director Jack Gill was very good and very patient with us," she said.

The actress dismissed rumours that the film was releasing after a delay.

"It's releasing when we thought it would. Animation takes time. We shot in three-four months but then a lot more has to be done on each character. Karan Johar's animation film is still being made, 'Avatar' took five years to make. Simply because you don't want to mess it up. There is so much on stake," she said.

In the film Ajay is the superhero, but Kajol's favourite is Superman. "My superhero is the Superman. I loved him; I read all his comics," she announced.

Finally, after two releases this year, the actress is planning to take time off.

"I'm not working on any film right now. No plans as of now. It's very difficult handling two kids. I don't get time and I want to give all my time to them for some time now," she said.

The couple have two children - seven-year-old daughter Nysa born in 2003 and Yug, who was born this year.
