Nayanthara, the smoldering beauty with sparkling eyes and innocent smile epitomizes the new spirit of South Indian film industry. She is a fighter, indefatigable in spirits and mind. Not only is she ravishingly beautiful and photogenic, she is talented, professional and has the determination to make it to the top. Today she is bracketed among the top three heroines in south and her rise in the short time has been phenomenal.

Nayanthara Childhood and Education:

She was born as a Christian in Tiruvalla, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. She did schooling from North India (Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Punjab and Karnataka)as her father was an Air Force Official. She joined Balikamadom High School, Thiruvalla for +2, then joined Marthoma college in Thiruvalla for her bachelors degree (English Literature).:

Nayanthara is among the top three heroines in south and her rise in the last one year has been phenomenal. No one ever thought that this plain Jane from small town Tiruvalla in the Central Travancore area of Kerala will make it big in the glitzy world of cinema. In fact Diana Kurien was hand picked by veteran director Satyan Anthikkad, rechristened as Nayanthara and cast in "Manasinakkare".
Later she did films with top directors and heroes like Mammootty and Mohanlal and then she made her Tamil debut with "Ayya". But it was the role opposite superstar Rajnikanth in "Chandramukhi" that sky-rocketed her to stardom. Today Nayanthara has an aura around her as she is said to be elusive, inaccessible, does not make public appearances and prefers to do her work silently without being dragged into any controversies. Nayanthara agrees that luck played an important role in her rise to superstardom as she was a part of two blockbusters "Chandramukhi" and "Ghajini" and "Kalvanin Kathali" a hit. In 2006 she had four Tamil releases and was the heroine with maximum number of releases.
In Telugu, Nayan's "Lakshmi" with Venkatesh is the blockbuster of 2006 and her "Boss" with Nagarjuna and "Yogi" with Prabhas are hits. Today, Nayan is a brand by herself and she is one of the few leading ladies in Tamil who commands an opening. Now she wants to be more careful with the films she signs and goes through scripts with a fine comb. Nayan has two films on floors is only focused on her career at the moment and is refusing all the endorsements offers coming her way. The pretty actress says that she does not want to be overexposed.

Nayanthara is currently one of the busiest actresses in the southern film industry and has acted in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies. Initially she was known to perfectly play the role of a ‘seeda saada homely girl’, but now she has transformed her image and has started accepting more glamorous roles. This young actress is now looking more sexier than ever and has a long way to go in the South Indian Film industry.

Nayanthara - in Malayalam Movies :

Nayanthara made her debut in movies with the Malayalam movie 'Manassinakkare', directed by Sathyan Anthikad opposite Jayaram (2003). The movie went on to become a huge commercial success and immediately Nayanthara became famous. Soon she was flooded with new movie offers. In her second Malayalam movie, she played the role of a Ghost who falls in love with the hero, in the movie 'Vismayathumbathu' opposite Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. The movie did not live up to its high expectations and failed to do well at the box office. She then acted in one more Malayalam film opposite Mohanlal, 'Natturajavu' before moving over to Tamil movies.

After her leading roles in Malayalam movies Nayanthara was still looking for a break in big budget movies. It was not long before her gorgeous looks and amazing acting talent caught the attention of directors from the Tamil Film industry. Her first Tamil movie was'Ayya' (2005) opposite famous actor Sarat Kumar. Her second movie 'Chandramukhi' opposite superstar Rajnikanth made her instantly famous. The movie was a huge hit and Nayanthara soon became a household name in Tamil Nadu. She has a huge fan following amongst the Tamil movie lovers and is presently one of the top actresses in the Tamil industry.

Before her entry into Tollywood, Nayanthara was already famous amongst the Telugu moviegoers, who liked her in the dubbed version of the movie 'Chandramukhi'. She had captured the hearts of the Telugu movie fans with two of the biggest hit movies in recent times like 'Lakshmi' and 'Boss'. Following the huge success of her Telugu movies, Nayanthara is said to be so over booked with new movies that she is rejecting some of the biggest names in South Indian Film industry due to lack of dates.
